The Invisible Red Thread follows fifteen year old Vivian Lum from Canada to China to discover the land she was adopted from in 1995. She returns to her birth city and orphanage in Jiangxi province and meets Shumin Zhu, a locally adopted teen girl. The girls compare lives as the film explores the ripple effects of China’s Family Planning / One Child Policy.

Who might Vivian have been had she been adopted inside China instead? The Invisible Red Thread travels the twists of fate that brought these girls to very different worlds, and the ties that still connect Vivian to China.

The Invisible Red Thread debuted at the 2011 Montreal World Film Festival and has been screened at several other film festivals, FCC chapters, and Chinese heritage camps across North America in 2012.

FAQs

Is there an age limit to enter the event?

Due to sensitive subject matter, the film is not recommended for children under 10 years of age.  We are not, however, restricting admissions in any way.  Parents should use their best judgment and exercise discretion for children through age 12.  Email fccorswwa@gmail.com if you need more information to make a decision.

What are my transportation/parking options getting to the event?

Although the Clinton Street Theater does not have its own parking lot, street parking is fairly plentiful.  Please be respectful of the surrounding residential neighborhood when parking your vehicle.  You may have to walk a few blocks, depending upon your arrival time.  Doors will open at 4:30pm, 30 minutes before showtime.  The theater is located near the Tri-Met Bus no. 4 line. The neighborhood is also very bike friendly, as this section of SE Clinton St. is a neighborhood greenway, or bicycle boulevard.

Should I bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring your printed ticket(s) or plan on showing your ticket on a smartphone at check-in.  If you forget both, you'll need to provide identification.

What are the food and drink options in the theater and nearby?

The Clinton Street Theater serves standard movie theater fare – popcorn (with real butter), candy, and soda – as well as beer.  Several restaurants within walking distance will be open until 9:00pm or later Sunday evening, including Noho's Hawaiian Cafe, The Press Club, Savoy, Dots Café, Vindalho, and St. Jack.  [Urbanspoon]
